Storytelling is an important element of my art practice. I love creating stories and illustrating them with textiles and found objects, embellishing with stitching and beads. I use both hand and machine embroidery, often using the sewing machine as a drawing tool. I have nostalgia for childhood, especially fairytales. Victorian inventions and gadgets fascinate me and I am always on the look out for unusual objects that I can use in my work. I also enjoy making people smile and like to inject my quirky sense of humour into my pieces. When I am creating I am transported to a magical make-believe world and my aim is to bring it to life so that, hopefully, others can enjoy it too. Welcome to my World! © Corinne Phillips 2007.
